Yes. Everything you need to know about racing in the Freycinet Challenge 2025 is in the Race Handbook. You can get access to it after you enter the race.
The race starts early on Saturday 4 October and Sunday 5 October 2025. You should be ready to start at 8AM on Day 1 and 7:30AM on Day 2. See the full schedule in the Race Handbook.
Yes. If you'e going to do the Road Bike Time Trial stages, you'll need a Road Bike or a Time Trial Bike. If you're going to do the Mountain Bike stages, you'll need a XC Mountain Bike. If you're going to do the Sea Kayak stages, you'll need a suitable boat.
Yes. If you're travelling from interstate, you don't have to bring your own equipment. Some of our event sponsors are experts in their fields and they can supply equipment to you.
Our friends from Next Level Kayaking are normally competing in the Freycinet Challenge and they can help with both the hire and transport of suitable Kayaks.
Our friends at Roll Cycles have a large fleet of Road Bikes and Mountain Bikes, with various frames sizes available. They have a shop in Launceston and Hobart, so they're conveniently located in both of the major cities in Tasmania. One of our winning Solo athletes from 2023, Kaine Cannan, does bike fitting in the Hobart shop.
Yes. There will be a briefing before the race, which will go through everything you need to know. See the full schedule in the Race Handbook.
You can create a team after you have entered online as a person who is part of a team. You can then create a team by choosing the option on your profile page.
When you enter online, you will be guided through the steps to add yourself to a team. If you've missed a step, please follow these instructions.
Yes. Anyone who has entered online for the teams competition can join any team by updating their race profile. Teams that have spaces available can be selected.
If a team has been created by someone you don't know, introduce yourself by sending them a message from their team page. They might love to have you on their team! You can find a team on the teams page.
The person who created the team is the Team Captain and they can EDIT the team when they are logged in. You can find your team on the teams page.
Well that's a bit rude, isn't it? We encourage everyone to introduce themselves before joining a team. They should send a message to the Team Captain from team page. You can find a team on the teams page.
Ultimately, we can remove them from your team. If you think you might like to keep them on your team, contact us to let us know and we'll ask them to send you a message from your team page. This will put you in touch with each other.

Yes. The current Team Captain can contact us and ask to have the page assigned to another teams competitor, which will make them the new Team Captain. You can find other team competitors on the athletes page or on the teams page.
You can send a message to the Team Captain by going to the team page. You can find the team on the teams page.
You can advertise a vacancy by adding your email address to your team. Then registered athletes can send you a message - offering to join your team. The team captain can turn on this feature when they EDIT the team page. You can find the team on the teams page.
If you no longer want to advertise that you have a vacancy on your team, the team captain can EDIT the team page and remove the email address. You can find the team on the teams page.
Your photo can appear on the teams pages and on the athletes page. You can add your photo by updating your race profile.
Yes. Any adult can enter the Challenge, but due to the physical demands of the race, we do limit the age for young athletes to 14 years and above. Find out more on the race categories page.
We do have a separate competition for Junior teams whereby some of there race stages have reduced distances. See the teams competition page for more information.
When you enter the Freycinet Challenge, you need to update your race profile; which includes adding or updating your medical contact information. Read the instructions on our page about adding your medical contact information.
