Freycinet Challenge

New Mountain Bike Courses

The Freycinet Challenge 2025 is set to deliver an exciting shake-up for mountain bikers, with two brand-new multi-lap courses now locked in for the event on 4–5 October in Coles Bay, Tasmania. After months of planning and final approval from the Parks & Wildlife Service, competitors can now preview the routes that will loop around Telstra Tower Hill in the Coles Bay Conservation Area.

While the courses may look similar on paper, they each have their own unique character. Stage 4 on Saturday runs clockwise, while Stage 7 on Sunday is raced in the opposite direction, anticlockwise. These subtle differences will challenge riders in new ways, with changes in gradient, cornering and terrain flow making each stage feel fresh.

To ensure the best possible race experience, the Race Officials and SES crew will be positioned across both courses. They’ll be there to keep you on track, provide encouragement, and lend assistance if needed — so you can focus on racing hard and enjoying the spectacular surrounds.

Both courses are designed to improve safety and flow, with no two-way rider traffic and a mix of 4WD tracks and single-track trails. The new format also makes it easier for spectators to catch more action, as riders tackle multiple laps that loop back through familiar sections.

Competitors can study the interactive course maps on the Mountain Bike page of our website to plan their race strategy. Whether you’re racing solo, joining a team, or tackling single stages, the mountain bike courses of the Freycinet Challenge remain one of the most exciting parts of Tasmania’s premier multisport event.

Entries are still open — don’t miss your chance to take on the new courses at the Freycinet Challenge 2025, Coles Bay, 4–5 October.
