Smitten with the Challenge

Each year we have an objective to give something back to our competitors, acknowledging their commitment to this iconic multi-sport event in Tasmania. With thanks to Smitten Merino, who we are excited to have come on board as a major sponsor, each athlete will receive a limited edition “Freycinet Challenge” Beanie, made from merino wool.

Smitten Merino is a family-owned and Tasmanian business that was established in 2007, marrying Australia’s world class superfine merino wool with classic, timeless design to create luxurious clothing that people will wear for years to come.

Smitten Merino believes in ethical and sustainable fashion and support skilled Australian women who sew their clothing. They are excited to be a part of the Fashion Revolution and want radical change in the industry, encouraging people to think about where their clothes are made and who makes them. They are proud to be earth friendly, utilising natural fibres that are sustainable and biodegradable with clothing designs that are made ethically in Australia.

The limited edition Freycinet Challenge Skull Cap Sports Beanie is made from tight fitting fine merino wool. The super-lightweight fabric ensures your head stays warm, but it won’t get too hot, like most other beanies do, so you can perform at your best while you are wearing it.

This is the ultimate Beanie for wearing under helmets when bike riding and snow boarding, and it’s just as good for running and kayaking in cold weather. The beanie is ideal for outdoor adventurers and thrill seekers because it helps to keep you warm without the bulk!

As an athlete in the Freycinet Challenge, you can wear the Beanie proudly, showing everyone that you have taken on the Challenge and hopefully it brings back memories of your achievements every time you put it on.

Watch out for the Smitten Merino teams in the Freycinet Challenge too. They'll be the ones wearing the Beanies, just like everyone else!
