Freycinet Challenge

University of Tasmania Partnership

Get active. Get outside. Choose your challenge.

We’re excited to announce that the University of Tasmania is joining the Freycinet Challenge as a Major Partner for 2026.

It’s a partnership that makes a lot of sense.

The Freycinet Challenge is about getting people moving, getting outdoors and connecting with one of Tasmania’s most spectacular natural environments. The University of Tasmania’s Healthy Campus initiative is built around many of the same principles — supporting physical activity, wellbeing, connection, healthy choices and sustainable lifestyles across the university community.

Together, we want to turn those ideas into action.

Choose your challenge

The Freycinet Challenge offers different ways to get active:

Road Cycling. Mountain Biking. Trail Running. Kayaking. You can do it solo, in a team, or choose the single stages you like.

Whether you're an experienced athlete or simply looking for a reason to get moving, there’s a challenge to suit.

And you don't have to do it alone.

We're particularly keen to see more UTAS students and staff get involved this year — forming teams with friends, colleagues, classmates, sporting clubs and fellow students and making the trip to Freycinet together.

The message is simple:

Choose your challenge. Get your team together. Take on Freycinet.

Healthy Campus in action

The FISU Healthy Campus programme takes a holistic approach to university wellbeing, recognising that being healthy isn't simply about exercise. It's also about mental and social health, nutrition, connection, sustainability and creating environments that make healthy choices easier.

That philosophy aligns strongly with what the Freycinet Challenge represents.

There is something uniquely Tasmanian about being able to step away from study or work and immerse yourself in an extraordinary natural environment — and then experience it under your own power.

Ride the roads.

Take on the trails.

Run through the landscape.

Or get out on the water.

The Freycinet Challenge is an opportunity to be active, spend time outdoors, challenge yourself and share the experience with other people.

From campus to Freycinet

UTAS already has a four-person team entered in the 2026 Freycinet Challenge, and we're looking forward to seeing them on the start line.

But we'd love for that team to be the beginning of something much bigger.

We're inviting UTAS students and staff to get their own teams together and take on the Freycinet Challenge.

You don't need to be an elite athlete. You don't even need to be experienced in your chosen discipline.

You just need to choose your challenge.

And there’s no better way to experience the event than with a group of friends or colleagues alongside you.

A partnership built around participation

As a Major Partner, the University of Tasmania will have a strong presence throughout the Freycinet Challenge — but this partnership is about much more than putting a logo on an event.

It’s about creating opportunities for people to participate.

We’ll be working with UTAS to encourage more students and staff to get active, get outside and experience the benefits of taking on a challenge together.

We'll also be sharing stories from UTAS participants in the lead-up to the event, showcasing the different ways people choose to get involved and celebrating the university community on race weekend.

Because ultimately, Healthy Campus isn't just something you talk about. It's something you do.

And what better place to do it than Freycinet?

Ready to choose your challenge?

Whether you're a UTAS student, staff member or simply someone looking for your next adventure, there's a place for you at the Freycinet Challenge.

Get your team together. Choose your discipline. Take on Freycinet.
